CIVIL AIR TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

ANKARA AERONAUTICAL VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HIGHER EDUCATION WAS AUTHORIZED AS “GROUND HANDLING EDUCATION INSTITUTION” BY GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF CIVIL AVIATION IN 20 JUNE 2013.

The Civil Air Transportation Management Program, which aims to train qualified individuals with high technical knowledge and skills required by the aviation sector, can issue certificates to students in accordance with the authorization given by General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM), in Passenger Services, Ramp Services, Flight Operations, Basic Operations and Safety Management Systems courses.

General Information

As the Civil Aviation sector continues to grow at an extraordinary rate in the world and in Turkey, the need for qualified personnel in the sector increases at the same time. The crucial role of being international in the aviation sector is directly influencing the quality of ground handling services within the framework of international standards, triggering the development of ground handling services. In the aviation sector, where competition is intense, sophisticated managers who are able to make quick decisions, think conceptually, and be specialized in operational level activities, are needed. In order to meet this need, the Civil Air Transportaation Program aims to train staff to work in the aviation ground handling sector and ground handling services at airports.

In order to get our students to have these qualifications, the program is aimed to educate students to acquire the technical knowledge and skills that they will need to begin their careers in positions of ground handling at airports and to be employees who always target better, take responsibility and are able to make decisions, with participative leadership approach and team work, by means of passenger services, cargo services, flight operations, and load control lessons. Because individuals graduating from the ground handling management are trained by following all the changes and innovations in the area quickly, their awareness will be expanded. This situation will support the development of ground handling services by making a difference in our aviation sector.

Aim

The aim of the programme  is to train staff to manage business and airport services in the aviation sector. In general, ground handling staff are responsible for ensuring flight safety by coordinating flight operations on the ground as well as complete and accurate execution of baggage, ticket and passport transactions according to the company’s rules and international standards during the process from the entry of the passengers to the boarding of the aircraft. The major organizations in which our graduates can work are: organizations which operate terminal such as TAV, LİMAK, IC PORT; ground handling services companies such as TGS, HAVAŞ, ISG, ÇELEBİ, and airline companies such as Turkish Airlines, Sunexpress, Pegasus, Onur Air, Atlas Jet etc.  Students in the Ground Handling Management Program can start their career with different titles according to their preferences when they graduate.

 

Generally, the professions they can work in the sector;

 

 

Ground Handling Companies: Operations Officer, Passenger Services Officer, Cargo Officer,

Airline/ Aircargo Companies:  Supervisor, Dispatch, Loadmaster, Customer Relations, Business Development and Planning

Maintenance Companies: DockPlaner, Trade, Buying, Suppliance, etc.

 

 

WHAT ARE THE MOVEMENTS OF CIVIL AIR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM AT UNIVERSITY OF TURKISH AERONAUTICAL ASSOCIATION?

Although Civil Air Transportation Services Program was established in 2012, it began to give certificated trainings approved by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation within a short period of 6 months. When students finish the school, they will have graduated with at least 15 certificates. These certificates will be very useful for the students to have a job. Lecturers teaching in the Civil Air Transportation  Program are well equipped people who have worked in the aviation sector for many years. There is a 20-day compulsory internship in Civil Air Transportation Program. Students become familiar with the sector have an idea to direct their careers. The Civil Air Transportation Program, which continues its activities in cooperation with many companies in the aviation sector, continues to work towards signing protocols for internship and placement of post-school students.
